Running For Matthew

Okay, so here's the plan:
We're going multi-sport and multi-terrain.
I'm planning for two triathlons, an adventure race and a marathon.

The Norwich Triathlon
3rd July 2011

Whitlingham Broad. Excellent water quality (yay), home to some of the meanest swans mankind has ever known (boo).

Sprint Distance: 750m Swim, 20k Bike, 5k Run

The London Triathlon

The biggest triathlon in the world apparently. I fully expect to forget where I've put my bike. It's black, dark blue and indistinct. And will be amongst 13,000 other bikes. This is bothering me already.

Anyway it's an Olympic Tri - so that's 1.5km swim, 40k bike, 10k run.

The Whole Hog Adventure Race

Oh this should be a good one - particularly if you don't like me. It's eight miles of mud, cargo nets, water and...mud. I'll be crawling, climbing, sliding and, at one point, swimming. It will be a hearty sort of a make-your-cheeks-glow event, I think.

The London Marathon
April 2012

...hopefully. Places on this race are about as hard to come by as unicorn's teeth. However I pledge that, should I not get a place, I'll run The Black Dog instead. So one way or another, you'll be getting your 26.2 miles worth.

All in all, the above should cause me a lot of pain. Hopefully that's reason enough to have you all digging deep. I'm training six days a week for the triathlons, sometimes twice a day. I've run a marathon before, and it made me cry (I thought I'd already run 24 miles, when I rounded the corner and saw...the 23 mile marker... not my happiest moment)
